Our relentless effort to provide excellent service requires continuing education. And not just for Dr. Darby. Our entire team regularly attends the conferences of the prestigious American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (the AACD) for intense training. Every team member has completed the Advanced Esthetics Continuum at the Nash Institute for Dental Learning in Charlotte, NC.
In addition, we are engaged thru Dental Boot Kamp in an ongoing, intense program to constantly improve our practice management and communication skills. We work at this constantly.
Our Dental Assistants have been certified by the Georgia Dental Association for all three levels of Expanded Duty.
Our Hygienists have received advanced training in the treatment of gum disease as well as in the maintenance of esthetically enhanced smiles.
The entire clinical team is certified in both Laser Dentistry and Invisalign Orthodontics.
We’re committed to our community . . .
Every February, during National Children’s Dental Health Month, we try to Give Kids A Smile. This is an American Dental Association Program. We offer a free cleaning, check-up, and fluoride treatment to any child who has never seen a dentist. In the four years since we began the program we have served more than 100 children. About half were found to have tooth decay.
In October of 2006 we held our first annual Halloween Candy Buy Back. The team distributed orange and black toothbrushes to all the Downtown Vidalia trick-or-treaters. Each toothbrush invited the kids to sell us the candy they collected to send to our American Troops. We bought more than 300 pounds and thru the courtesy of World Airways, it was especially packaged and delivered on Christmas Eve to soldiers returning to Iraq.
And it’s not just our dentistry that we’ve committed to the community. We support the Toombs-Montgomery Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Vidalia Association, many school projects, the Vidalia Onion Festival, and on an on.
We’re committed to our profession . . .
The entire team belongs to and supports the Georgia Dental Association, of which Dr. Darby is an Honorable Fellow. He is also a past president of the Central District Dental Society (Macon and surrounding counties) and is a trained spokesperson for the American Dental Association.
Most recently, 1999 – 2001, he served on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of General Dentistry (earned with continuing education), and holds honorary fellowships (chosen by his colleagues) in both the American and the International College of Dentists. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Darby is a past president of the Vidalia Rotary Club, and is an ordained elder currently serving as Trustee of the Vidalia Presbyterian Church.

I REALLY THINK MY MOUTH MUST BE THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF ME, FOR ALL MY PARTS, FROM NORTH TO SOUTH, GOT INTO ME RIGHT THROUGH MY MOUTH — EXCEPT THE FIRST FEW PARTS, AND OTHERS, THAT HAD TO CHOOSE TO USE MY MOTHER’S.
NOT ONLY DOES IT BITE AND CHEW, IT SIPS AND SUCKS, AND GUZZLES, TOO. AND WHILE IT DRINKS, I THINK IT THINKS OF ALL THE WAYS TO SMILE AT YOU. THERE ARE SO MANY KINDS OF SMILES — FROM ‘TOOTHY’ TO ‘SERENE’; AND IT CAN GROWL AND
GRIMACE, TOO, IN CASE I’M FEELING MEAN.
I USE IT WHEN I WHISTLE, WHEN I SING, OR EVEN HUM. AND IF I TRIED TO TALK WITH YOU — WITHOUT IT, I’D BE DUMB. I BREATHE WITH IT QUITE OFTEN. I THINK IT KNOWS MY NOSE. WHEN IT’S STOPPED UP, MY MOUTH STEPS UP, AND THEN THE AIR JUST
FLOWS.
I YAWN WITH IT. I COUGH WITH IT. AND SNEEZES ARE EMBELLISHED. AND SINCE IT’S WHERE MY TASTEBUDS LIVE, JUST THINK OF ALL IT’S RELISHED. IT BLOWS OUT BIRTHDAY CANDLES, EVEN WHILE I’M WISHING. AND WHEN IT’S HELD EXACTLY RIGHT,
I CATCH WHEN I AM FISHING.
OH, IT HAS SO MANY USES, BUT MY FAVORITE ONE IS THIS. WHETHER FAMILY, FRIEND, OR LOVER — IT’S WHAT WE USE TO KISS. SO IT REALLY IS IMPORTANT. THERE IS NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. MY MOUTH IS ME. IT REALLY IS. I AM NOT ME
