Improving What Nature Gave You

With all the advances in dental technology, there is no reason why you can’t have the smile of your dreams. Whether you long for a show-stopping smile or simply want whiter, brighter teeth, Dr. Darby and his talented Smile Team can help you reach your full, dazzling potential. Dr. Darby served for two years (2000–2002) on the Board of Directors of the prestigious American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, so he is extremely qualified to offer the following services:

Smile Design

Even if we’re only changing a single tooth, it needs to improve your smile. Using digital and intraoral imaging technology, as well as wax mock ups of your new smile, we can be certain that it’s right for your face. We consider the size, shape, symmetry, cant, position, gum lines, and the shade of each tooth as well as how it fits into the smile.

Smile Whitening

Tooth whiteners wipe away the unpleasant evidence that years of coffee, tea, soda, wine, and cigarettes leave behind. Whether performed at home or in our office, we offer several tooth whitening techniques to remove yellow or brown stains that discolor a smile. A favorite whitening options is called Power Whitening, in which a hydrogen peroxide-based gel is applied in our office. This usually taking no longer than an hour, giving almost instant results.

Invisalign

Straightening teeth used to mean braces. Today, many smiles can be straightened using Invisalign – a series of removable, invisible, comfortable, and healthy aligners. Most cases are treated in under 12 months. Call for a no-obligation evaluation to see if your crooked teeth can be straightened with Invisalign.

Cosmetic Contouring

When teeth are ragged, rotated, misshapen, or otherwise unsightly, sometimes all it takes to straighten out a smile is just some judicious contouring. Frequently, the illusion of straightness can be achieved by just rounding the edges of a few teeth.

Bonding

When teeth are chipped or broken, or when unsightly gaps between teeth diminish the attractiveness of a smile, colored composite resin can be bonded onto the enamel and sculpted to make it attractive again.

Toothed-Colored (Invisible) Fillings

Composite resin fillings are the same color as teeth. If you have a mouthful of mercury fillings left over from dentistry’s less sophisticated era, we can replace the metal with a durable composite resin that looks and acts more like a natural tooth’s surface. The material we use in tooth-colored fillings comes in a full range of shades, which will match your true tooth color.

Ceramic Crowns and Bridges

When teeth have to be totally restored and/or replaced, the advances in metal-free porcelain offer remarkable strength as well as beauty. Full-coverage restorations and even bridges replacing missing teeth can be made with porcelain fused to metal or with the new zirconium-supported porcelain. The options for enhancing a smile have never been as extensive as they are today.

Porcelain Veneers

A beautiful remedy for stained, worn, chipped, or crooked teeth, porcelain veneers are wafer-thin shells of tooth-like material that bond directly onto the tooth’s surface. Sometimes called veneers or porcelain laminates, these extremely durable glass-like sheaths have the cosmetic advantage of translucence, which allows them to mimic your natural enamel’s ability to absorb and reflect light, giving them a very lifelike appearance.

Smile Maintenance

If you want your teeth to be good to you, you need to be good to them. There are really only three causes of tooth loss: tooth decay, gum disease, and bad bites. When we achieve stable teeth with no decay in healthy gums, then we can have teeth that look good, feel good and last a long time. But the key to it all is Continual Care. Continual means just that. Good dental health is dependent upon regular visits. Our Continual Care visits consist of plaque and calculus removal, polishing, review of home care, and a thorough evaluation of the teeth and gums. The frequency of these visits is determined on an individual basis. Our hygienists, who have been trained in cosmetic procedures, will help determine what's right for you.
